BTOSports.com / Butler Brothers MX signs Michael Byrne

The BTOSports.com / BBMX / Palmetto Suzuki race team is pleased to announce their acquisition of Motocross/Supercross Veteran Michael Byrne for the 2011 & 2012 Supercross & Motocross seasons. “Words can’t express the level of excitement we have regarding this right now!” said BTO Sports owner Vince Arimitsu. “Michael Byrne is a big and exciting addition to our team, and we are looking forward to putting in our best season yet!”

Michael Byrne has been racing professionally in the USA since 2001, when he started racing under MX Legend Jeff Emig’s Kawasaki team. Since then, he has proven to be a top dog in the sport, with many podium finishes and legendary battles. Byrne has jumped around from some pretty big name teams over the years, such as: Amsoil Honda, Factory Chevy Trucks Kawasaki and Factory Rockstar Makita Suzuki.

“Michael is where we want to be with our race team for the future. We are putting all our focus into the premier 450 class this season and Byrner was the perfect rider for us. He lives in Tampa, FL now which is where the team is based out of and we will be able to get a lot of testing time in with both Michael and veteran team rider Jason Thomas. Both BBMX and Michael have the same goals for 2011 and 2012 and we look forward to achieving them together”, says BBMX team owner Forrest Butler.

BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki Racing Dade City This Summer

Press Release May 20, 2010

BBMX kicks off first round of the Monster Energy Sponsor Cup Series – Dade City, FL

While most of the top US teams are 100% focused and ready to do battle in the Lucas Oil’s Pro Motocross Nationals this upcoming weekend in Sacramento, CA – the BTOSports.com / Palmetto Suzuki / BBMX race team already notched their first summer motocross series race this past weekend on May 15th.  New on the 2010 BBMX race team schedule this year is the addition of the Monster Energy Sponsor Cup Series, held in Dade City, FL.

The Monster Energy Sponsor Cup Series is the fastest growing series in BBMX’s home state of FL, and is definitely a first of its kind for FL racing.  The Sponsor Cup Series is in its 5th year of racing and has become a hot spot for FL racing from the early Spring to the late Fall.  With 15 rounds in the points chase, a high pro purse and a hefty top 3 series championship bonus on the line – it is a must for all of FL’s top pro riders to attend.  And though the BBMX team will sit out the 2010 Lucas Oil Motocross Nationals, the team hopes to be able to give back to all their loyal FL fans who have supported them over the years.  “We are going to miss the nationals this year for sure, but with all honesty it is a tough economy out there right now and we needed to work on our sales program back in FL for this year and the Monster Energy Sponsor Cup Series was just the perfect fit for us. The nationals are definitely not out of our future, we will be back for sure. What MX Sports is doing over there is just awesome and as time goes on, what they are doing will allow teams like ours to only grow stronger and win races”, says Forrest Butler.

“Our focus right now though is on the Sponsor Cup championship and winning races.  The facility at Dade City, the Sponsor Cup team layout, teams involved – it is very impressive.  They have a 4000sq/ft building with an entire air conditioned VIP viewing area, it is very impressive.  We are also set up and selling live for BTOSports.com out of our product display booth, it really is a good deal for all our team sponsors and our FL regional fans” adds Forrest.

As for the racing, the format is done similar to the nationals – all bikes are equipped with transponders and timed qualifying is used for gate pick. Team rider Kyle Keylon would grab the fastest qualifying time, with teammate Jason Thomas qualifying 6th. The first moto would find Thomas with a near holeshot on the ground and starting from dead last, Thomas’s fortune would end right away with a broken shifter causing him to pull out.  Keylon however made his way to the front quickly and took the lead by the half way mark.  Unfortunately for Keylon, a broken front wheel would cause him to go down with just 2 laps to go and settle for 2nd place.

In the 2nd moto, Thomas would again have first turn problems and then a crash a lap 4 left him with a bike that wouldn’t start, finding him a lap down.  Keylon started 2nd this time and was quickly looking for the lead, he made several attempts but just couldn’t get by the race leader, eventually finishing in 2nd by just a few short bike lengths.  Kyle would end up 2nd overall on the night and up on the podium.

The next round will be on May 29th and both Thomas and Keylon will be a bit more prepared as this last weekend saw them both coming directly off the Las Vegas SX finale.

Press Release – BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki’s Thomas and Kiniry Attack San Diego

BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki’s Thomas and Kiniry Attack San Diego

San Diego, CA- The clouds were ominous this weekend in San Diego and the riders braced for the rains which never really came. Despite a sloppy track that gave most riders fits, Team BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki was ready to lay it all on the line and do whatever it took to bring home the prize.

And that was just when they were setting up their sponsor displays.

Riders Bobby “Next of” Kiniry and Jason “Das Champ” Thomas put their Suzuki’s into the main events and once in there, both guys suffered some crashes that would keep us normal people down for the count. Thomas either caught a footpeg or a Tiger Shark or something because he ripped a massive hole into his arm. This was discovered after him completing twenty laps and being scored with an 18th place. In the 250 race, Kiniry swapped out and flew through the air with the greatest of ease. He got up and soldiered on for a 13th.

Both riders are solidly inside the top twenty in points with JT scoring a 17th and Kiniry in 13th.

Anaheim, CA- At the first round of the Monster Energy Supercross, nerves were high and the questions lingered in the air. BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki team riders Bobby Kiniry, Shane Sewell and Ben Evans all put in good showings in the chilly California night.

Kiniry and Evans both qualified for the Lites main event but didn’t have the greatest luck once the gate dropped. Like, they had really, really bad luck. At the end of lap one, they were actually last and next to last after a first turn crash and their work was cut out for them. Kiniry soldiered on all the way up to 13th and Evans had a few more encounters with the ground and eventually ended up 18th.

Sewell wasn’t able to make the 450 main event but put in a good showing on his way to missing the final by only four spots. It was a great ride considering that Shane only had a day on the bike after being a late fill-in for this race.

“It’s the first round and oftentimes, things get a little buck-wild out there. I’m glad our guys our safe and they put in a good showing” said team manager Forrest Butler “We’ll have our rock, Jason Thomas  back for round two this weekend and that will help.”

Speaking of JT$, the BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki team would like to congratulate “The Rolling Tank” on his German SX championship which he clinched over the weekend. Great job JT, now come back here and try to win this championship if you think you’re so good.
