BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki-Monster Energy Sponsor Cup Series/ Round 10

BTOSports.com / BBMX / Palmetto Suzuki team rider Kyle Keylon put a new definition to the word domination as he put together solid 1-1 moto scores to take his first overall win of the Sponsor Cup Series. Kyle has laid down the fastest lap times for the past few rounds in practice, only to be outdone by his teammate Jason Thomas on one occasion, however has not been able to put the moto results together that he is capable of. But this past Saturday was Kyle’s day as he laid down the fastest practice qualifying time and two moto wins in smooth fashion.

Moto 1 would see Keylon taking the holeshot and put in a flawless ride from start to finish, never looking back until after he got the checkers. Teammate Jason Thomas would go into the first corner side by side with Keylon, only to bobble a bit on the outside and come out in 5th position. Thomas was on fire as well and started moving up quickly, only to go down while trying to make a pass on the outside of Mike Picone. Thomas would remount in 7th and work his way back up to 5th by the finish.

Moto 2 would see team BTOSports.com / BBMX / Palmetto Suzuki riders Thomas and Keylon 1 & 2 as they rounded the first corner. Thomas would hold onto the lead for just about 2 laps, until Keylon would make a pass around his teammate to take the lead. Keylon would again put on a flawless ride to the finish, as Thomas would ride just as smooth and finish with a comfortable 2nd.

After the 4th round of the Monster Energy Sponsor Cup Series, team BTOSports.com riders look to be getting a solid hold on the field. “Each week, both our riders seem to be getting more and more confident, and we definitely feel that we have the best bikes on the track thanks to all our sponsors. Our WMI motors are pulling just about every holeshot now and our Factory Connection suspension is hands down allowing Kyle and JT to push their bikes more than the other riders. There are still 11 rounds to go though and our plan is to keep taking it just one race at a time” says team owner Forrest Butler.

BTOSports.com / BBMX / Palmetto Suzuki Gets First Win of Monster Energy Sponsor Cup Series

BTOSports.com / BBMX / Palmetto Suzuki rider Jason Thomas came away with his first win of the Monster Energy Sponsor Cup Series this past weekend in Dade City, FL. This was the third round of the series for the BBMX team, and both team riders Jason Thomas and Kyle Keylon were more than dominant on the day. Keylon would take top timed qualifying honors with JT holding down the 2nd spot, giving the rider the top 2 gate picks going to the line.

Thomas would nail down the holeshot in moto one with Keylon rounding lap one in 5th place. Keylon would make quick work on the field in the first 2 laps and found himself on JT’s rear fender by the end of lap three and then the race was on. Both BTOSports.com / BBMX / Palmetto Suzuki teammates would put on a back and forth battle until two laps to go when JT made two costly mistakes that would allow Keylon to rocket by into the lead. JT pushed hard, but Keylon held on for his first moto win of the series. Thomas would follow him accross the line for a 2nd place in moto one.

Moto 2 would see Thomas nailing down another amazing holeshot, but this time he would dominate the race from start to finish. Thomas took the moto win and the overall win with 2-1 moto scores on the night. Keylon would again find himself mid pack after the first turn, but started to once again make quick work of the riders in front of him. Only this time his charge would be cut short when a smashed exhaust would end his moto prematurely resulting in a DNF. Keylon would end up 10th overall on the night with 1-25 moto scores.

“I was very happy with the way both the guys rode tonight” says team owner Forrest Butler. “We are new to this series this year and the riders here flat out haul the mail and it is a different style racing than both Kyle & JT are used to. But we had a goal set to hopefully win by 4 races in and after two 2nd place finishes in a row, we grabbed our first win at our 3rd race. We’re happy and I think both the guys are getting a lot faster each weekend and we hope to continue on and win series championship for all our team sponsors.”

BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki Racing Dade City This Summer

Press Release May 20, 2010

BBMX kicks off first round of the Monster Energy Sponsor Cup Series – Dade City, FL

While most of the top US teams are 100% focused and ready to do battle in the Lucas Oil’s Pro Motocross Nationals this upcoming weekend in Sacramento, CA – the BTOSports.com / Palmetto Suzuki / BBMX race team already notched their first summer motocross series race this past weekend on May 15th.  New on the 2010 BBMX race team schedule this year is the addition of the Monster Energy Sponsor Cup Series, held in Dade City, FL.

The Monster Energy Sponsor Cup Series is the fastest growing series in BBMX’s home state of FL, and is definitely a first of its kind for FL racing.  The Sponsor Cup Series is in its 5th year of racing and has become a hot spot for FL racing from the early Spring to the late Fall.  With 15 rounds in the points chase, a high pro purse and a hefty top 3 series championship bonus on the line – it is a must for all of FL’s top pro riders to attend.  And though the BBMX team will sit out the 2010 Lucas Oil Motocross Nationals, the team hopes to be able to give back to all their loyal FL fans who have supported them over the years.  “We are going to miss the nationals this year for sure, but with all honesty it is a tough economy out there right now and we needed to work on our sales program back in FL for this year and the Monster Energy Sponsor Cup Series was just the perfect fit for us. The nationals are definitely not out of our future, we will be back for sure. What MX Sports is doing over there is just awesome and as time goes on, what they are doing will allow teams like ours to only grow stronger and win races”, says Forrest Butler.

“Our focus right now though is on the Sponsor Cup championship and winning races.  The facility at Dade City, the Sponsor Cup team layout, teams involved – it is very impressive.  They have a 4000sq/ft building with an entire air conditioned VIP viewing area, it is very impressive.  We are also set up and selling live for BTOSports.com out of our product display booth, it really is a good deal for all our team sponsors and our FL regional fans” adds Forrest.

As for the racing, the format is done similar to the nationals – all bikes are equipped with transponders and timed qualifying is used for gate pick. Team rider Kyle Keylon would grab the fastest qualifying time, with teammate Jason Thomas qualifying 6th. The first moto would find Thomas with a near holeshot on the ground and starting from dead last, Thomas’s fortune would end right away with a broken shifter causing him to pull out.  Keylon however made his way to the front quickly and took the lead by the half way mark.  Unfortunately for Keylon, a broken front wheel would cause him to go down with just 2 laps to go and settle for 2nd place.

In the 2nd moto, Thomas would again have first turn problems and then a crash a lap 4 left him with a bike that wouldn’t start, finding him a lap down.  Keylon started 2nd this time and was quickly looking for the lead, he made several attempts but just couldn’t get by the race leader, eventually finishing in 2nd by just a few short bike lengths.  Kyle would end up 2nd overall on the night and up on the podium.

The next round will be on May 29th and both Thomas and Keylon will be a bit more prepared as this last weekend saw them both coming directly off the Las Vegas SX finale.
