Dade City – Florida Motocross Series – 7/12/09

Finally got to Dade City again! Thank you Randy Yoho for your hospitality! A lot was new to me today because there have been so many improvements to Dade City Motocross since the last time I was there! First is the HUGE building in place of the old tower. This building is the new home for the announcer, a new concession stand, and sign up area. The top floor has a media center where track sponsors and press can take advantage of internet and other offerings. There are separate sponsor “spots” (not sure what you call them), that has stadium like seating, where each sponsor area can view the entire track! The building is air conditioned and will be equipped with several more bells and whistles!! Oh, also there is a cool podium on the side of the building. Also new are the lights. Dade City has always had lights, but they installed news ones recently, and the track is lit up at night much better now. They also extended the RV Hook-ups so more people get a chance to have electric and water, which is really cool!
Randy Yoho told me that for the Saturday night races (last night), they had 403 entries! He also mentioned that the parking for spectators was huge, and people were standing 7 deep around the fence to watch the exciting night races!
I am hoping to attend a night race in the very near future!
Dean had a lot of entries, not sure how many, for the Florida Series Race today. Looked like everyone was having a great time despite the miserable heat.
It was so HOT today that I did not stay for all the races and I apologize for that. I hope you enjoy what I was able to get. I am sure Dean Dyess witnessed me leaving with a large Pepsi sitting on the back of my SUV, I forgot it was there when I left and remembered way down the road. Dean was sitting behind where I was parked. Thanks for visiting the site!!
